New Classes

Hand Embroidery with Marie

Learn how to hand embroider with Marie. In this three-session class, you will make a sweet heart wall hanging that celebrates love, friendship, or a baby's birth. You will learn several hand embroidery stitches and many helpful tips from Marie. Also, with this project you will use a stabilizer called Texture Magic that creates a wonderful three-dimensional/textured fabric for the appliqued heart. Instructor: Marie Abernathy. Class fee is $30 for three sessions. Kits can be made upon request.

Sew Simple Pineapple

Start with a square, and keep on adding layers till your pineapple explodes in wonderful variations of color and fabric. This simple method from Karin Hellaby does not use any strange angles or special rulers. Class fee is $15. Does not include materials or supplies.

Floriani Software

Learn how to use your new software with Cathy Root. Class meets every 4th Wednesday. Free for customers who purchase the software from Judy's. If not, the class is $50 per session.

Hidden Wells

The quilt Hidden Wells designed by Mary Ellen Hopkins will be taught by Mac McNamara. This class is for Intermediate to Advance quilters. Mac's description of his class: Hidden Wells - the name itself conjures up mystifying elements - or movies from the past where water is needed in the desert and the secret to the wells' whereabouts is part of the plot. Well, that's what I think anyway, and Mary Ellen Hopkins is no stranger to drama, intrigue, and having a jolly good time in her approach to this design that keeps getting taught over and over again. The design is made by sewing strips of fabric together, making squares of the strips, cutting the squares into right triangles, and reconstituting these triangles to create a layered effect of diamonds upon diamonds - wells hiding below other wells. Class fee is $30 for three (3) sessions

Creative Serging on the Evolution

Join this group to expand your creativity on your new Evolution Serger machine. Karen Golding and Barbara Auer will be hosting this group. The class meets on the first Saturday of every month from 2-5 PM.

Stripping for Fun

Strip tubing is a fun and fast way to create fabulous quilts! Nina Miller and Rayette Andrews show you a twist on this method. Class fee is $20 for two (2) sessions. Requires the book Strip Tubing and Strip Tube Ruler but Cozy Quilt Designs.

Beginning Clothing Construction

This class will help you create garments that will express your style and fit you perfectly. Class fee is $15. Does not include materials or supplies.

Scrap Strategies

A class for beginners and experienced quilters alike to learn how to organize and use their "real scraps" to make beautiful quilts. If you like to sort fabric, sew without worrying too much abaout if the corners match, and you want to design your own scrap quilts...then this is the class for you! You can see from the samples that that the basic technique is the same throughout, but the resulting quilts vary considerably based on the choices in the fabrics and settings. The technique is simple and teh design process is fun. Just let go and enjoy the ride! Instructor: Claire Witherspoon. Class fee is $30 for two sessions.

Mystery Strip Quilt

Grab a jelly roll or 38-40 2 1/2" strips to make this fast and easy quilt. The mystery is in how each quilt will come out completed different even if you use the same fabric. You will love making this quilt. It is so fast, you will be able to make several before Christmas! Instructor: Marie Abernathy. Class fee is $10 plus jelly roll.

Sewing 1A

This class teaches you the basics of your sewing machine. You will learn how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and tips on selecting needles and threads. Class fee is $10.

Learn to Sew

Join Judy in learning how to sew. Each class you learn a different technique (pillowcase, lounge pants, and vest). This class meets the first three Tuesday's of the month. Class fee is $10 per session.

Learn to Quilt

Have you wanted to learn how to make a quilt? This is the class to take. You will learn how to piece, quilt in the ditch, and bind your quilt to completeness. Judy loves to see a finished quilt from this class. Class Fee $10 per session. Most students take 3 sessions to complete their quilt. Morning Class: meets the first three Thursday's of the month. Evening Class: meets the first three Mondays of the month.

Bring a project and let us help you make it. Class fee is $10.

Serger Club

Learn how to use your serger. Class fee of $15 includes materials for the project you are going to make that session. This class is for people who have purchased their serger at Judy's.

Learn Machine Embroidery

This class is for people who are learning how to use their Embroidery Machine. Each month you will learn to do a different project and technique. Class fee is $15.
